Double Helix
The problem
A comprehensive building design studio with Peter Anderson considered the question of high-rise parametric housing within a highly constrained single-lot site. Urban housing tries to balance the trade offs between value of the building at the expense of the unit and the value of the unit, at the expense of the building.

The premise
As a premise for negotiating this tension, the building is conceived as an infinitely and repeatedly re-configurable spiral of livable space mixed with spaces of various gradients of publicity. The gradients are a mutual negotiation between the various steps and spans of the floor plates that make up the spiral, and the exoskeleton that supports them.
